Before you can use BICS, you must first create a Rijkswaterstaat Inland Shipping Account and request a Reporting ID. On this page, you can read step by step how to arrange this.
Step 1: Create a Rijkswaterstaat Inland Shipping Account
What do you need to do?
You can create a Rijkswaterstaat Inland Shipping Account via the registration form.
Why?
A Rijkswaterstaat Inland Shipping Account is required to access various Rijkswaterstaat services, such as BICS, Lock Scheduler and Fairway Information System.
Afterwards
After creating your account, you will receive an email with a link to activate your account. Once your account has been activated, you can request a Reporting ID.
Forgot password?
If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it via the Forgot password page.
Step 2: Request a Reporting ID for BICS
What do you need to do?
After your Rijkswaterstaat Inland Shipping Account has been activated, you can request a Reporting ID for BICS via the Start with BICS page.
- Select your preferred version of BICS and click the "Request Reporting ID" button
- Before the application form opens, you must first log in with your Rijkswaterstaat Inland Shipping Account.
After your request
You will receive an acknowledgment of receipt (please note: this is not yet an approval), after which Rijkswaterstaat will process your request.
Processing time
It may take up to 5 working days for your request to be processed. Until your request has been approved, you cannot use BICS.
No response?
Have you not received a response after 5 working days? Please contact the BICS helpdesk.
Rejection
Rijkswaterstaat will first contact you to discuss and, where possible, resolve any issues with your application, such as incorrect or missing information. If these issues cannot be resolved, your application may be rejected. In that case, you will receive a notification explaining the reason for the rejection.
Step 3: Receive the welcome email
What happens?
Once your request has been approved and your Reporting ID has been created, you will receive the welcome email from Rijkswaterstaat.
Contents
The welcome email contains your details and instructions for starting to use BICS.
No email?
Please also check your spam folder.
Step 4: Start using BICS
Have you received the welcome email? Then follow the instructions in that email.
Tip: When using BICS Portal, there is no need to download the BICS software.
