Explanation of BICS account application procedure

On this page, you will find a detailed explanation of the BICS account application procedure. Below, each step required will be explained in detail.

1. Create an RWS Account

Before you can apply for a BICS account, you must first create an RWS account. You can create an RWS account yourself via this link. An RWS account is required to access various services provided by Rijkswaterstaat, including BICS. If you have already created an account on Lock Scheduler or Vaarweginformatie, you can use it as an RWS account as well.

After creating an RWS account, you will receive an email to activate the created RWS account.

If you forget the password for your RWS account, you can recover it via this link.

2. Apply for a BICS Account

After activating your RWS account, you can submit a request for a BICS account via this link.

Note: It is not possible to apply for a BICS account without having an RWS account. Requests with an invalid RWS account will be rejected.
If you forget your RWS account username, you can also provide the email address registered with your RWS account. Rijkswaterstaat will then link the corresponding RWS account to your application.

After submitting the application form, you will receive a confirmation email at the provided email address. Rijkswaterstaat will then proceed to verify your application and create your BICS account. This process may take up to 5 business days, so make sure to apply for your BICS account in a timely manner.

Once your BICS account is created, you will receive an email from Rijkswaterstaat containing the BICS Welcome Letter. This Welcome Letter includes your BICS account details and further instructions on downloading and setting up BICS on your device.
